  • "I have had the great pleasure in being a patient of Dr Hopkins of Astera Cancer care since my breast cancer journey began in Dec 2021. She was the only surgeon I found that saw me within a week of my phone call following cancer screenings of a mammogram ordered by my primary dr after finding a lump . This was during the Covid aftermath and finding a surgeon was almost impossible . Astera Care made certain that I was seen immediately, and Dr Hopkins took the lead and pushed for my biopsy to be done . Though at the time the place doing biopsies was booked out into February of 2022 , Dr Hopkins made sure I was given a biopsy within 2 weeks of meeting her , and my surgery was done by January 20th . She made me feel safe , heard ,seen , and comforted during a scary time in my life . Facing breast cancer was difficult, but facing it with the confident, intelligent , professional , and sympathetic not to mention gifted Dr Hopkins made my time less scary, less lonely and very encouraging. When I met with her following my biopsies to discuss my options, she answered every question I had and even some I didn't think of . My favorite memory was despite the crazy times of covid , this amazing Dr. broke through the barriers in place and hugged me . During a time of fear and uncertainty for my health as well as the uncertainty of Covid , she sensed my need for comfort and asked first , then pulled me into her arms assuring me I was going to be ok and that she was going to take care of me . Reminding me that there were still Dr's that understood the need to connect with their patients . I will never forget that hug. I will forever be grateful to my Surgeon Dr Lisa Hopkins and the dedicated staff of Astera Cancer care , who took my hand and led me to the other side of my Canver Journey.
