“I chose to go into hematology/oncology because it’s a constantly evolving field that can encompass every other subspecialty. I truly enjoy the relationship I build with you, and strive to be comforting, hopeful, and honest. I believe that ensuring you’re as comfortable as possible, combined with an open line of communication, and an accessible environment, will all help provide the best treatment experience. With my access to clinical trials, I have the ability to give you an up-to-date approach. I treat every case differently. My approach is never routine, and catered specifically to you.”

Patient Reviews

  • "I was referred to Dr. Canavan by my surgeon Dr. Faiz Bhora after Dr. Bhora successfully and smoothly performed my lobectomy for a stage III adenocarcinoma mucinous lung cancer - KRAS G12D mutation. I met with Dr. Canavan yesterday to discuss my next steps for post-surgery adjuvant treatment. My first impression of Dr. Canavan was that he is straightforward, straight to business, and very well informed about my options for my adjuvant treatment. He straighforwardly presented my options and showed me the research for the targeted therapies that would likely work for me. There was no pressure, I did not feel rushed, and he took his time. Of course some of the information was above my level of understanding, so I am in the process of researching the clinical trials he suggested, but he gave me the information for me to look into. He answered all the questions that I had, even drawing pictures for me to understand and have a visual image. He also took the initiative to suggest reaching out to my previous oncologist that was over seeing my neoadjuvant chemo-immuno treatment for several months. I found that to be a very good idea and I felt much more at ease with this. He was very interested in trying to understand what my previous oncologist suggested for my post-surgery care so that he could have a broad understanding of the entire picture."

  • "I've said this from the very first time I needed an Oncologist, Dr. Canavan and his staff were all so great with getting me through one of the worst diagnosis a person can get. He made sure I understood everything that I was going to go through without the fear, because He gave me all the time I needed to ask him all my questions. And now, 4 years later, He is still the same. Thank you Dr. Canavan and Staff."
